Theme for My Book

Image
THEME FOR MY BOOK I have been going back and forth in terms of what I want the theme of my book to be: did I want to focus on people or objects to get my point across? I decided to incorporate both. For my final project, my book will consist of images that I believe resemble comfort in solitude, as well as showcase the art of being alone. My images will focus on everyday activities that most functioning members of society go through, and my goal is to capture the silence and freedom in going through these everyday tasks. Ideas for Final Project

IDEAS FOR FINAL PROJECT Idea #1: How my photography has been reviewed in class is different to what I was expecting. I've heard over and over again that my photography highlights isolation and loneliness. I thought that it would be interesting to have my final project focus on human isolation through photographing routine and simplicity. Week by week, I would slowly but surely acquire a collection of different items that emanate solitude. Ex:  Idea #2: I personally love to photograph routine through both candid and posed photography. In this version of my final project, I would photograph specifically routine, every day life, primarily indoors, such as errands, tasks, and rituals that we as humans do every day. I would mainly be focusing on object work, however I am also interested in seeing humans interact with objects as well.    Ex:

Oral Presentation Declaration

ORAL PRESENTATION DECLARATION The photographer I chose to do my oral presentation on is Petra Collins. I'm interested in her use of colors to create an aesthetic and ambiance. I don't exactly connect to every single photo she takes, and I believe it would be interesting to research and critique a photographer that inspires me but also challenges some of my own creative style and flare. Petra Collins photography is unique and dramatic, and these are things that I would love to incorporate into my own photography, hence why I would love to focus on her in my oral presentation.

Assignment #5

Emma Ridley Professor Sally Bozzuto October 22, 2018 Assignment #5             Making my way to the Aperture Gallery, I had no idea what to expect. I had no prior experience at galleries that could assist me in gauging what the experience would be like, feel like, or even aesthetically look like. It is safe to say that I was walking in blind, completely open to the idea of accepting whatever style of photography I was about to see.             Guadalupe Rosales: Legends Never Die, A Collective Memory was the exhibition on display, and it was a rather small show. The Aperture Gallery itself is a rather small venue, and this exhibition took up about 40% of the space. The display itself was mostly digital on a big screen, showcasing an Instagram account on a flat touch screen TV that viewers could go to that had over 4,000 images achieved for the exhibition: @veteranas_and_rucas. The physical exhibition had about 10-15 photos displayed, digital but printe
